VIDEOS

They say one picture is worth a thousand words. In that case a movie is worth one thousand pictures?

The videos on this site are not professional movies; my primary goal was to capture Hutsul music and the decision to use a video camera with a special microphone was almost accidental. Nevertheless, I hope the videos will provide a better picture of the place, the people and their music.

The following videos are available:

Meet the Palahniuky – introduction to the three authentic Hutsul musicians, the brothers Yura, Mykola and Mykhailo Danyshchuk; taped in Summer 2007 and Fall 2008 in Shepit, Kosiv rajon, Ivano-Frankivsk oblsat.

Hutsul wedding videos (part 1, 2 and 3), all taped in the Summer of 2008 in the village of Shepit.

Hutsul Carol videos (part 1 and 2); taped in January 2008 in the Runok-Bubky corner of Shepit.

The videos are in flash format, 9-11 minutes in length, with explanations or subtitles English. Click on the link below to open a page with the video you want to see.
